Started a game of #Knave2e today as my latest #solorpg endeavor. The book is nice for generating characters, places, and world stuff. The rules are mostly simple with a lot of optional things. The one thing I hate is the brutal recommended skill checks. You mean to tell me that I have a 1 in 4 chance of doing things? Obviously I'm just going to lower the difficulty for myself. My gut instinct with these odds is to not do anything. What's the point? And the leveling up requirements seem awfully steep. The game seems to want the players to have a long campaign, but the difficulty seems to suggest quicker, more frantic runs. I think I have a feel for how I'll continue. But it feels like I'll br going against the intent of the creator, whatever that means.
