Why is there a need to comply with foolish laws? I’m sure I type stuff on lemmy.ml or elsewhere on the internet that doesn’t comply with some idiot law somewhere in like Myanmar or the DPRK. Why would I concern myself with those laws.

People who live in California, if anyone bothers to enforce it, would have two options: Switch OSs to something that does comply, or Risk criminal actions for using their computer wrong It should be implemented as “This is only required if you live in California” during setup. However, this does sound completely unenforceable. If I have a connecting flight through LA, will they send a swat team to pick me up at the airport for not setting it up and using the WiFi?

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word “Linux” in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.
