This is correct, notifications for Android go through FireBase and on iOS they go through Apple’s notification servers. Even from local on-device apps.

No, it’s incompetence to have the hubris to do this on purpose.

Ah, liberal wokescolding first thing in the morning
Yes, thank you for opening our eyes, none of us knew this, even though we all held our nose and voted for the woman who was suddenly thrust on us as it became apparent that Joe Biden couldn’t win, who herself was winning UNTIL she said we’ll have the most lethal military and who cozied up to Sarah Longwell and fucking _Liz Cheney_ and spent time chasing Republican votes and basically promising nothing to anyone from the moderates to the left
You fucking Overton shit shovelers are insufferable.
Hey you know what we might not have had climate change if Al Gore had gotten elected in 2000. Why aren’t we doing more hanging-chad memes?

Smart features aren’t what make appliances break. Give me a fridge and a washer with Matter/Thread for local sensor readings from HomeAssistant and a compressor/motor that doesn’t die after 3 years and I’ll give you the $3k for a fridge that you demand

Doesn’t piefed automatically change “th” into whatever the fuck that is? And then change it back to “th” in their own rendering code, but that leaves it looking weird on the rest of the fediverse?

My brain re-writes it from “our society must have regulations to prevent this!” to “we should seize the means of production to make sure this shit can never happen again.”

DDR3 is also pretty power hungry. Source: me, who built a homelab out of old DDR3 rackmount servers and can now no longer afford to run them.

They don’t. Schools teach that “Karl Marx didn’t want anyone to have any money, and to be owned by the state. They quickly ran out of food because no one was motivated to work.”
Why do you think guys who purchased “Truck Nuts” all screech on Twitter about “socialism is when you do all the work and they take all the profits” when that’s exactly what capitalism is and they are too dumb to notice? Why do you think the Tetris movie wasn’t really about Tetris but instead about “Soviets bad”?

Since you cannot copyright an AI creation, someone should just make him do like a woke anarchist rap or something.

Yes, I’m sure that will be allowed to happen. Right after “you can’t use everyone’s doorbell camera as a giant worldwide face-tracking panopticon” and “PC components should be affordable enough for anyone to buy instead of having to rent cloud desktops from an AI datacenter”
We are way way WAY more fucked than you think already.

Only if you use the OS built-in saving.
Most password managers support them at this point, making them portable and secure.

Password managers can hold Passkeys now and they’re portable. Bitwarden stores all of mine, use them on any machine.

You said it yourself, gas prices are up. That’s the first of many knock-on effects.
All food is transported using fuel. All packaging, from the case your computer is in to the wrapper around your bread, is made from plastic.
It all must be manufactured and then transported as well.
Every job available also needs fuel and power to exist.
Oil prices will affect everything above that you already mentioned.

Between this, his alleged mistreatment of employees, his problematic takes on unions and worker power, his incorrect reporting proven by other tech reporters, and all the staff I actually enjoyed watching leaving and starting their own channels…I dunno why anyone gives this fucking ass clown the time of day anymore.
Stay on Windows then, you corporate fuckboy! Enjoy XBox cloud gaming and never owning anything again.

“Conservative” as a valid train of thought never existed
They’re all rich men with delusions of grandeur who want to maneuver rubes into magical thinking about holy ideals and how cooperation is evil because it’s not what nature intended, so they can rob them blind for their own gain.

Don’t ”paradox of tolerance” this shit, you know we shouldn’t allow hateful rhetoric here. It’s the reason all the other platforms are fucking terrible now.

It’s gonna be so much better dude because AI agents are gonna do all the work for us, freeing us from using the computer and allowing us to return to a life of hard manual labor

EDIT; and it looks like a car door on the right and a car back window on the left? The part by her arm isn’t a window it’s like a seat cover or something, why would a window be there. It’s not AI, but it’s not the little girl

You’d rather be spied on constantly by the largest panopticon ever created, because they allow sideloading.
Honestly this is voting for Trump over Kamala; we need a viable alternative. Why have they taken personal computing from us?

I’m a dad and it’s real. I had that a couple times. It’s a total fight-or-flight; just yeet and run and you won’t have to go through this.
Of course, I did not and I would not have. Scary that it even came up though.

It doesn’t look like it will even be a single building. For a site that size they’re going to need maintenance buildings and a power plant, grounds crews, security, climate services, offices, cafeteria, reception; probably put some R&D labs out there. It’s almost certainly not going to be one huge monolith, although it will certainly be mostly server buildings.

It sounds conspiratorial to say it seems like they are trying to crash the consumer market so that computing will be entirely dependent on their services, but I mean…

I got one that has a trigger-handle for locking and an attachment point for a drill to spin it for you. When you pull the trigger while it’s spinning, it auto-feeds (forward or backward depending on the direction it’s turning)
Once you get it in place it’s just one hand on the trigger and one on the drill and it’s off to the races, you barely even have to get dirty. Worth every penny.

Don’t hook anything to a vent stack and especially do not hook anything to an appliance exhaust. You are asking for problems.
Best way to do this is with a Christmas tree stand, secured with ropes over the top of the peak and off to the sides. Don’t penetrate the shingles.
