@phocks@bne.social I’m not trying to defend the Fahrenheit scale but the reason a brine solution was chosen was due to the fact that the phase change was easier to see.

The water/ice transition can be difficult with pure water as it can “superheat” or “supercool” due to the structure of the molecule.
