I think what is being said is that the USA is, and always has been, the product of its people.
I actually totally agree that the United States was given a rotten electoral choice. I harbour no individual ill will to anyone who could not bring themselves to vote for genocide. But that doesn't matter here: what matters is that the USA is the progenitor of that rotten choice in the first place. It wasn't foisted on you externally by any notable means. It was the product of a half century of brutal, naive USA exceptionalism, imperialism and supremacy.
The rotten choice is, it many aspects, the USA at its most bold and obvious. So why would the rest of the world trust a country that produces either senile populist monsters or Woke Genocidaires with no third option?
