We don't need to close the loophole. We need to make it illegal for ANYONE to digitally stalk us and create digital data troves on us. They should be restricted to a narrow data gathering of what we give them for the purpose we give them the data for. I don't want corporations collecting and selling data that I don't trust the government with. A world where they still do that but the government "isn't allowed to buy it" isn't much better than what we have. Worse, it could enshrine their right to gather it.
