@wwahammy what i am personally worried about is the possible repurposing of these “child-friendly measures” for more extreme conditions (say, requiring ID to access the Internet in times of crises/wars, where any any action online will immediately be tied to your identity - how could that go wrong, right?).
That’s what happened with Russian regulators: first they started blocking sites distributing CSAM, drug sales, torrent trackers, etc.), developed the infrastructure and then… well, now you can’t use the internet properly without a solid VPN or byeDPI instruments. I’d like to think the rest of the world would learn from our mistakes…
p.s. I’m sure other people have pointed this out already, but i still wanted to share my thoughts on the matter.
