Patch old jeans & shirts or wear them with a few unpatched holes; incrementally replace every part on the bicycle as the parts wear out, but keep the frame (& when frame breaks, find a used one to transfer all the parts to); learn proper hip-checking technique to jostle a finicky 1992 Maytag washer into service. When I “need” to buy new, buy stuff that’s built to last.
