@lumi@snug.moe I don't think the technology itself is evil. It's just a tool, and like any tool you can use it for good and evil. Like a sharp knife, you can use it to cut vegetables for cooking purposes, but you can also use it to commit murder. What I think people should reject is the proprietary SaaSS versions of "Genai" as you call it, such as services by OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Twitter, Microsoft, etc. People that want to use "Genai" software they should strive for using those that are as free as in freedom as possible, which includes software that you can run locally, weights that can be modified and retrained, and training datasets that we can actually confirm contains no data with a proprietary license.
