I should probably do that. Feels like you can scrub your fingers pretty decently after cutting peppers, and there's still a bit of residual burn when you touch sensitive areas. Maybe it depends on the spice level of the pepper, but I don't generally go above habs for eating raw, so it's not like I'm chopping reapers or even ghosts.

Didn’t some games in the DOS era use a lot of base memory? Like to the point that after RAM was a thing there wasn’t enough base memory to run them. I seem to recall trying to run Elite (Frontier 2) and on a computer with Win95 or maybe 98 and it said there wasn’t enough memory. There were even old programs like doublespsce that would free up some base memory for more memory intense games

Nice, Beyond Sunset kinda reminds me of Neon Overdrive, which came out last year. I wonder if NO took aesthetic inspiration from the BS setting. I haven’t played through a ton of the total conversion wads but it’s always impressive what people manage to do with the (tweaked) Build engine. Are those two standouts for you? Looks like Ashes got a cacoward runner up in 2018. Any languages have both? Like Japanese has ashi(no)yubi [foot(’s)finger], and although yubi is technically digit it’s much more common to use it for finger. Then there’s also tsumasaki, literally meaning nailtip (or point, end, head, etc).

to me what is really surprising is that some languages found it necessary to use two words to describe what is essentially the same fucking shit. I mean, you can start calling all sorts of body parts the same shit, and some of them even have words already. Like we say arms and legs, but we could also say upper and lower limbs. We’ve got knees and elbows and shoulders, but they’re all just joints. Now I’m wondering what languages have the fewest words that could describe the entire body, as in once you break down the word “body” into any number of parts (without using the word “body”, like upper and lower body), how many other words are needed? I think in English you couldn’t get away with anything less than head, neck, torso, and extremities (although one might argue that the latter refers only to hands and feet so you’d have to put limbs back in as well).

I still play doom, although I try a lot of newer wads. It’s crazy that there’s basically 30 years of free content people have been creating since it came out (even if most stuff much past 10 or 15 years old can feel kinda dated and not so interesting to play).

Some Starbucks somebody gave me recently tasted rotten in comparison Sbucks always tastes like dogshit because they burn the absolute shit out of their beans. No one goes there to taste coffee, they go because they can want caffeinated vanilla pumpkin mace choco cinnamon. I can’t imagine they started that way when they were a little shop in seattle so I think when they exploded they needed a consistent flavor as the base, and the way they accomplished that was by over roasting all the variations out of the beans they got.
