Iran has confirmed the first combat deployment of its Fattah-2 hypersonic missile as part of Operation True Promise 4—a multi-wave retaliation campaign against US and Israeli targets following joint airstrikes on Iranian territory beginning February 28, 2026.
The Fattah-2 features a range of 1400-1500 km, speeds up to Mach 15, and a hypersonic glide vehicle designed to evade air defense systems. Video evidence shows some projectiles successfully avoiding multiple interceptors.
Confirmed impacts include US military bases in Bahrain (headquarters of the Fifth Fleet), Qatar, and the UAE; a ballistic missile strike on central Jerusalem causing civilian injuries; and a drone strike on a high-rise in Bahrain.
Iranian sources claim approximately 200 US military fatalities. US sources acknowledge base damage but report effective interceptions and no significant American losses. The discrepancy reflects the ongoing information war.
The escalation follows the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and includes asymmetric attacks on commercial shipping near the Strait of Hormuz, including the tanker Skylight, which was damaged and began sinking. Oil prices have surged, airspace is closing, and Washington is signaling retaliation.
