Jesse Jackson’s misdiagnosis of Parkinson’s is common – new genetic discovery could lead to treatment for this deadly disease - Like Rev. Jackson, they misdiagnosed me and it took them a long time to DX my Multiple System Atrophy. RIP Rev. Jackson. The "Parkinson's" part of these illnesses are just foreplay for the disease that is to come. are characterized by the primary features of Parkinson disease, including bradykinesia, ataxia, resting tremor, and rigidity but also include additional features, depending on which subset. I will be glad when they break Parkinson-plus syndromes away from Parkinson's completely. Many doctors don't even know what they are and they are becoming more common. COVID research is leading to new discoveries and treatment of PPS. One area seeing strides is POTS. There was no money for POTS in medical research until COVID made it a standard ailment of Long COVID. Parkinson-plus syndromes include multiple system atrophy (MSA) (formerly known as Shy–Drager syndrome), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and corticobasal degeneration (CBD), Dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), Pick's disease and olivopontocerebellar atrophy. #Parkinsons #MSA #Neurology #MedMastodon https://theconversation.com/jesse-jacksons-misdiagnosis-of-parkinsons-is-common-new-genetic-discovery-could-lead-to-treatment-for-this-deadly-disease-276944 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parkinson-plus_syndrome https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK585113/

AI models are getting better at studying and diagnosing specific diseases and neuropsychiatric conditions. Case in point, AI has shown promise in uncovering patterns associated with tumors, strokes and neurodegenerative diseases by analyzing large amounts of brain scans collected using magnetic resonance imaging. The last words that legendary Apple founder Steve Jobs uttered were “Oh, wow, oh wow, oh wow.” It’s anyone’s guess what spurred Jobs’ comments. But scientists may be closing in on what happens in the final moments of life by gathering data on brain activity from patients who are dying.
