I love blocking annoying accounts. Not interested in low quality creators that put out 3-4 long form content videos every week and 3 daily shorts.

Had manager that wanted us to return error codes on a field of an API response along with an HTTP 200 because "errors bad". It needed a few of us to make him understand how that worked against common design patterns and you still had to handle error codes since you didn't know if the error would be coming from the app, web server, api gateway, local network (no internet), etc.

I always thought of Macs as not a good value before, but nowadays for laptops at least they seem to be relatively good. I still find them annoyingly unintuitive, but that's probably due to lack of experience. At least they come with some (old) version of bash and support standard stuff like ssh out of the box from my understanding.

They work out of the box, but the firmware updater is what’s windows only (pro 2 and pro 3 at least). Not even a MacOS version of the firmware tool. The larger issue I found with them was that hollow knight and silksong didn’t capture the triggers properly on their Linux version making them unplayable. Also the games would crash once in a while. You have to run the windows version with proton to get a solid experience. I read it was due to outdated Linux input libraries used by unity or whatever game engine it uses.

They also advertise on the bay area in the US by the highways one time we drove by. Although compared to all the AI garbage companies that promise the world on their billboards, it was generic "protect your privacy - mullvad VPN" and something like that. I only remember it because of the mascot.

If you leave it up to them, they’ll start burning that toxic cheap marine diesel to power the generators. Its not like its hard to get some states to give you exceptions for pollution with some key donations. Noise pollution around data centers is very bad already based on some news reports, they’ll push the limits to save a dollar.

He has other videos where he has explained that you can’t trust any brand any longer and you should not buy based on previous brand experiences alone but investigate individual models (and even revisions to them since it was a known trick to change them after the initial release to make them cheaper). Not sure if he mentioned it on this video since at the moment I’m not in the market for an appliance, but his takes seemed reasonable.

That was also the conclusion of this video on the Speed channel for older version of things vs new one (included tools, shoes/undershirts, etc - I would ignore consumables that expire but they were there for s&g it seems): youtu.be/I4C62HC1HSo

Not as much of a stop as you would think. Historically speaking Ford motor company already tried basically enslaving indigenous people on the Amazon for rubber production. Most of the cotton in the US (and many other industries) was done by black slaves. Current fishing in south east Asia (and other places I’m sure) can have slaving with extra steps on a boat. Apple/Nike and other big brand factories in chine have had nets installed to prevent suicides, etc. There is no stopping the horrible disease that is wealth hoarding and human exploration it seems.
