We who use Firefox are very fortunate right now since it still blocks all ads and I hope that will continue forever.

Yeah he was, but thats the real world. I dont know, im not even one bit surprised that an 86 year old man has these opinions.
I think he made cool movies. Im not here to be his friend or like him as a person.
I probably wouldnt like or be friends with some of the Lemmy guys here either. But we can still share a good time without believing everyone here would get along perfectly. Of course we wouldnt.

Yeah the agreement for me was always that i wont need any support from the company for my Linux, and I never did.
If you know Linux, it will just work. I had to use the web version of office and teams sometimes, but that worked ok during meetings.

I dont know. Human societies are just dumb and not built for human happiness. Its just a big tax and profit game people run through for their entire lives. Then they get old and die. Thanks for your effort. Lol.

Probably yeah. Ive done the same and said no to jobs where I couldnt use Linux. I didnt even want mac at that time, because 70% of the fun of the job was using Linux and native tools there.
Its not really strange. We are using our computers to do our job and we think its fun, so being forced to use a different platform ruins a lot of the fun.

I guess I understand. Maybe your life is full of politics you cant get away from and Lemmy is like a break from all that. And then it becomes super important to not see it here.
I dont watch any politics in real life and thats really helped me feel grounded and positive. I understand the view that its poison because it kind of is, mental poison.

There are Ai clips now on YouTube where they replace actors in famous movies, like putting Tom Cruise in the matrix or whatever.
I dont watch them because I dont want my nice memories of these movies to be overwritten, but it shows how easy it is today to do.

Software engineers at Microsoft are now expected to use both Claude Code and GitHub Copilot and give feedback comparing the two, I’m told. Microsoft sells GitHub Copilot as its AI coding tool of choice to its customers, but if these broad internal pilot programs are successful, then it’s possible the company could even eventually sell Claude Code directly to its cloud customers.
Guys? Are we going to have to rename Microsoft products from Copilot to Claude soon?

Its nice with chat bots like chat gpt but companies who bet on their own Ai... Or who believe they will be the next billion dollar Ai startup.... I dont believe in any of that.
I think we pretty much have seen what is going to come from Ai. Chat bots. People will pay for those, specially programmers. But also other people. Outside of that.... I cant see much value to pay for. Nothing in fact.
