To describe this as “rich coming from an American” is a gross understatement of the situation.

Oh cool. Cool cool cool.
Crowdstrike processes their signature files in kernel mode. Defender helpfully pastes malware over system files. Ivanti has a new critical vulnerability every week or so. Why are security vendors incompetent?

The refrigerator in the photo is auto defrosting, I’m almost certain.
Also, there’s a drive for some markets towards French door fridges and those leak a tremendous amount of energy.
The energy saving parts also come with cost cutting, which is how I interpret the post. My 2001 era dishwasher was recently replaced with a 2024 model (in 2025) and the old one weighs nearly twice as much. They’re comparable in the product line of their time from the same manufacturer; the new one cost more. But it’s not just mass. It’s insulation, it’s metal parts replaced with plastic, nylon-glass fibre parts replaced with ABS and it’s thinning down components to last _just_ until the warranty expires.
It doesn’t have a heat exchanger though. What kind of dishwasher?

PWM is vital; I can melt chocolate on my stove today but “low” often is 100% power at 90% off 10% on and burns food.
Also making sure the boards and chips are hefty enough. I don’t trust Samsung and LG to lay enough of a trace on the board or use a sufficiently large heatsink on the switching circuitry that it’s not going to melt through when I boil water daily. I don’t recall details but last time I was looking into it, even some higher end brands had failure rates after 5-10 years (or sooner if the “power boost” or whatever was used because they cheaped out. My gas stove will survive the apocalypse, but whether it survives the Operation Epic Fail is another thing.

Electric resistance or infrared simply doesn’t have the response time. Plus many of them don’t actually have “medium” but just do on/off at 50% duty cycle (I can’t remember what that’s called) so there’s absolutely no nuance to them. Many of the induction stoves share this problem with the added complexity of delicate circuitry.
There’s a lot of talk about air quality with gas stoves and I am not going to downplay that, because electric isn’t a magic switch - most people don’t have adequate ventilation to keep the VOC and PM levels in check when cooking on an electric stove let alone gas.

It’s not a good reason. Kids in general aren’t defensible even. Walk over and look at them. My floors are squeaky and kids slept poorly and it’s manageable.

LEO satellite internet service is life changing for people who live in underserviced, rural, and remote areas - but it’s a tragedy that it’s controlled by billionaires and the USA. Growth at all costs mindset cannot accept that they should exist only as an ISP of last resort, so they’re servicing urban areas and planning data centres.

It’s better than the alternatives, unfortunately. I really want to dump Apple; the products are waning in quality and the company is spending a lot of time genuflecting for king tangerine. But it just works.
“Just install grapheneOS” my brother in Christ, I have no time or interest in fucking up with the primary communication device I rely on to reach family, friends, and work. I don’t have time for the hobbies I _want_ to do let alone adding work-adjacent activities under the cloak of a hobby.

They’re lovely pieces of furniture and yes absolutely better than IKEA fingerboard but there’s no way I can fit a 2.5m2 table into my 100m2 house. I wish I could because good memories have and would be made there.

To give some credit, I don’t think that 30% of the global population of the gays or Roma or Slavs was killed by the Nazis. But, still, wow.

Yes.
But it’s also possible to just quietly omit information.
The holocaust resulted in millions of deaths
Sounds bad
the holocaust resulted in the death of approximately six million Jews and a further eight to ten million people from other groups such as Russian POW, Slav, Roma, Sinti, and homosexuals.
Puts figures to how bad it was.

It’s not just smaller pages. Brands and people pay for PR people to groom their page to present in a good light. Sure, it includes the information but it is groomed to be “neutral” and minimise the negative perception. Look at Musk’s page as an example.
