This sounds funny, but is actually a very serious issue. The main factor separating sermons by priests from sermons by any other people, e.g., homeless drug addicts, is that God is supposedly speaking through priests. So whenever they give a speech, it’s treated as a speech from God. Clearly, AI has nothing to do with God if one exists, which means anyone attending such a sermon is being blatantly scammed. The Pope shouldn’t ‘ask’ anyone to stop using AI. He should immediately remove all of them from clerical service for defrauding people on the Church’s behalf.

I’m mainly interested in the hardware, i.e., screen, camera, build quality, that kind of stuff. Though it’s good to know about the software, since Graphene will most likely be the same with its security features.

According to the article, it was a little obvious that it’d be Motorola. To me it’s unexpected as I wasn’t following this all that closely. In any case, I’m personally pleased with the OEM choice. I’ll need to do some research on Motorola’s smartphones to prepare for the one/s that support Graphene.

Personally I tried using LLMs for reading error logs and summarizing what’s going on. I can say that even with somewhat complex errors, they were almost always right and very helpful. So basically the general consensus of using them as assistants within a narrow scope. Though it should also be noted that I only did this at work. While it seems to work well, I think I’d still limit such use in personal projects, since I want to keep learning more, and private projects are generally much more enjoyable to work on. Another interesting use case I can highlight is using a chatbot as documentation when the actual documentation is horrible. However, this only works within the same ecosystem, so for instance Copilot with MS software. Microsoft definitely trained Copilot on its own stuff and it’s often considerably more helpful than the docs.

This is a vicious cycle of falling back to dictatorship to avoid imperialism, or some of it. A) The country opens up and holds free elections, leading to an American puppet winning and the country turning into a vassal state at best, a glorified colony at worst. B) The country turns into a dictatorship to limit foreign influence and fight back against imperialism, becoming a similarly terrible place to live, but at least without giving anything to the empire. Also note that as time passes, it’s quite likely that the dictatorship will forget why it was even created, i.e. it will no longer be about rejecting imperialism. There are often the only two realistic scenarios for countries targetted by the American Empire. Both are bad and I’m not sure I feel like analyzing which one is slightly less bad for the average person.

Well, the friends are right, because he is a dictator. Which is still better than whatever USA has in store for Venezuela. And which absolutely doesn’t justify slaughtering Venezuelan civilians.

Weirdly enough they still let you delete your account even when it’s been banned. They don’t delete your account automatically, because then they can legally keep using all of your data. Once you delete, they have a legal obligation to delete almost all of that data, as per GDPR. Not sure about outside EU, but honestly it may very well be the same or similar. Sometimes it’s cheaper to implement GDPR worldwide, instead of on a per region basis.

Depending on the ‘model’, the ‘sex work’ in quesiton may just be posting nude selfies. I don’t know if that classifies as either ‘sex’ or ‘work’. Most (not all) people who openly talk about their experiences in actual sex work usually say it’s humilating and/or disgusting, but they do it, because otherwise they’d be living in poverty. So pretty much just like other jobs, but worse. The entire idea of sex work only exists, because centuries ago, impoverished families used to force their daughters (sons too, but on fewer occasions) to do it, to avoid starving to death. So of course it fits perfectly into a capitalist society.

Assuming what you’re saying about the harms of consuming pornography, is it the state’s responsibility? In general, yeah. It’s quite literally what the government is supposed to be for. When there’s a widespread problem affecting a lot of people, it’s precisely the government’s job to step in, regulate and solve it. Is it a top priority? Do we trust conservatives to implement a solution in good faith? These two I can agree with the answer being ‘no’. The problem isn’t that it’s not an issue or that the government shouldn’t interfere. The two main problems I can identify here are: The current American government (and most of the previous ones) cannot be trusted to handle this in good faith, There are several more pressing matters that should be addressed first. And a bonus issue. There’s currently no sufficient and reliable infrastructure to even implement restrictions on pornography, as we can plainly see from the results of recent attempts. But this ties in to the first problem. If they really wanted to solve the issue in any capacity, obviously they’d start by building the necessary digital infrastructure. All in all, I think you brought up important points and I pretty much fully agree with you on them. However, to me it seems like they’re not exactly relevant to the discussion. Or at least that’s not what I was trying to address. My main goal was to refute the previous guy’s theses that pornography has no confirmed negative effects on people, especially the part about children, since it literally takes seconds to find dozens of studies on this topic. I didn’t mean to speak about whether or not the government should do anything, let alone defend the current US efforts to regulate porn, if we can even call them that. In fact, one of the studies I quoted stated that the participants did not feel a government intervention is needed, which I felt was a crucial detail to highlight.
