Another driving lesson for Ms16 today. 7 hours up now and I finally got her into the traffic. She took a long time to get the hang of steering, braking and road position but now she is in the traffic she is quickly improving

This reminds me how my dad had a Ford model T truck he had partially restored. We sometimes drove it around in the back yard as young blokes. Always said there would be no need for any security on it because no one today would know how to drive one, let alone start it.
Pedals were (L-R) low forward gear - reverse - brake. Throttle and manual spark advance were levers on the steering column. Neutral was achieved by pulling the ratchet handbrake on half way. Magneto switch on the dash and choke and crank handle out the front for starting.

So now we have some stated 'goals' from the US. “to destroy their missiles and their ability to make them, destroy their navy, permanently deny them nuclear weapons forever, and (...) weaken their evil terrorist proxies in the region”.
In military parlance 'destroy' means 'render a capability combat ineffective until it is reconstituted', ie: it is a temporary state they can come back from.
'Deny them nuclear weapons forever'? The term 'deny' means 'prevent the enemy access to'. Sounds straightforward exept the military will tell you it nearly always requires a presence on the ground to achieve and therefore comes with a limited time period. Eg: 'deny from time x to time y'. Deny forever is a big call. One that would get you laughed out of war college tbh.
'Weaken' their proxies? This isn't measurable or decisive, which is why it is not a military task-verb. This is a PR filler.
Also noteworthy is the line "“President Trump will determine when Iran is in a place of unconditional surrender...". Yeah, nah. That's not how surrendering works.

Went for a walk around Parc des Buttes-Chaumont. Another Paris surprise. Built in Napolean times in an old gypsum quarry. The man-made cliffs are closed off now while they work out how to stabilise them, but there are still plenty of walking paths open #travel

Partner and I spent a morning wandering around the campus at Université Paris Cité looking at the International houses. Each accommodation block is designed by a different country. Most were built in the 50s and 60s but many designs dated back to the early 30s.
The caretaker at the Swiss House saw us and invited us in to check out the inside common areas and an open accommodation room they had on display in the original layout. He charged €2 and I assumed he was just going to pocket it, but he put it through a cash register and gave us a brochure and receipt!

What staggers me most about the PM's cruel and flippant attitude to the Australian women and children stuck in Syrian camps, is the level of misogyny and complete lack of self reflection.
'They made their bed' is a disgraceful trope trotted out about single mums to blame the women for any range of misdemeanours. His own mother would have been subject to the same comments and judgements without any regard to her circumstances.
His callous attitude is near sociopathic and frankly I've never thought so lowly of him as a person.
