That could be part of your research process, by moving to city that is more walkable, pro-transit etc. Which i do know is easier said that done and often is more expensive. We do need collective action to make it better but the affordability crisis is incredibly complex and must be tackled from several factors ranging from car dependancy, city zoning, rent control policies, and several other factors. Most of what i mentioned is on the type and supply side, we also need to consider wage growth and job positions available. It becomes a complex mess with no 1 factor to blame. One of the most effective things you can do is vote locally for politicians that want beneficial change like density and transit, and not vote for the ones that do things like "even though this road is zoned for multi units and mid rises, im gonna fight every development that isn't a SFH because it ruins the "character" of the neighborhood."

Counter to your point, i did leave my home city that was too expensive for me to live in. I did nearly become homeless before landing a job but once i landed a job i was able to afford a small house in a few years, a nearly impossible goal for me in my home town. I did have the benefit of my work skills are fairly universal and I could find some kind of employment nearly anywhere. If its an attainable goal to move, even if risky id say more often than not its worthwhile. It would be wise to do extensive research into average living costs and employment opportunities before moving.

I defintely get the social reliance and funny looks when you don't want to use technology. I get the same looks for refusing to use dating apps. I have nothing against people who use them but the cycle isn't something I'm interested in. I get discouraged chatting for a bit then getting ghosted. I get discouraged seeing dates get match notifications while i am on a date with them. And really fhe biggest thing for me, i vastly prefer meeting and getting to know people in person. Their accent, their body language, their sarcasm and humor, its best to experience that in person. Plus the app doesn't keep make money by finding you a good partner and in our capitalist hellscape I'd bet most of them factor that into tbeir algorithm. You match with good enough matches and frequently enough you think the app works but maybe the app guesses the match is just off enough that you'll both be back in a few weeks more desperate than before and ready to buy superswipes or whatever.

For some of us it may be a difficult decision to not comply. Many of us need technology to continue our careers and make enough money to exist at our current standards. I need a phone with an active service connection and often need maps and to download user manuals on the fly for my job, and thats about as little reliance on phones and internet as jobs get these days.

Given most places only hace expensive shitty apartments available right now that woukd absolutely be an improvement. Also maybe we shouldn’t have such rigid rules that a street can only be used for a single use such as retail because of zoning.

I think a big part is NK postures like a threat, but often only meddles in its own affairs in the grand scheme of things. Russia is actively waging a war against Ukraine and China has been provoking trade wars and digital spying/manipulatation. I also think NK size and posturing actually makes the world more ready to deal with them than the other 2 countries. NK is a much smaller nation to monitor than russia or china and since it pretty much only plays hostile, everyone is already a little on edge with them whereas both russia and china want to play by the rules most of the time but can be risky to trust. However I'm just a guy on the internet and I certainly have a flawed view of these countries and the whole geopolitical situation so maybe NK actually deserves 30% in reality.

As someone who works on private wells and water systems, its always baffling to me when someone with a “hunt camp” more luxurious than any house I’ll ever afford is complaining about the cost of our services. Like dude your “camp” is 2000 sqft and and 200 kms from the nearest city. Yea its gonna cost a bit to make your well water clean, clear, and safe to drink while running on a solar system. They’ll even start to question my wage and why the bill costs so much (as if i have any say) completely tone death to the struggles of people outside their class. They imply if i was paid less their bill would be much cheaper despite me barely making enough to own my own tiny home and my wages really aren’t a major cost on the bill.
