I don’t have a greenhouse and I am banned from taking over the windowsills and kitchen table but the seeds are germinating well with this arrangement. Onions, leeks, chard and brassicas so far. #allotment
…and working out why my water butts aren’t filling as fast as they should #allotment
I hear from those as know that we’re in for another very dry growing season, so in addition to my usual chop and drop approach, I have mulched the raspberries with grass/weeds that have been composting in plastic sacks since the summer. Rather than binning the stuff that would grow if it went on the compost, I bag it up and leave it in the shed until it’s rotted down. #allotment
I just managed to replant the rhubarb before the sun went down and the sunset was amazing #allotment
Yesterday I split the champagne rhubarb, and the Robin got a really good worm. I’m forcing the Victoria this year under the blue barrel #allotment
Fiiiiinally got back up to the #allotment today - stayed until the light went tidying, and came away with another box of raspberries(!), some cabbage and celeriac. Garlic is going well.
A very curly bean on a dank October morning at the #allotment. I cycled up the access road to a Mexican wave of magpies and crows taking flight.
Rigged up a bit of cold night protection around the remaining tomatoes #allotment
It’s getting autumnal at the #allotment but the kale is recovering well now it’s had some proper rain. I sowed next year’s sweet peas this morning, mostly because I like having something to look forward to.
