Last night I ran the first session of a home-brewed Western #ttrpg based heavily on Blades In The Dark / Charge / Dash systems. Having come from #dnd5e this was an absolute blast – the narrative style worked amazingly, combat was an order of magnitude more fun, and the simplicity of the system really enabled the game to flow.

I can finally talk about my work project over the past 18 months! - the NDSP Quad Cortex Mini was released last week at #namm2026. It had some interesting challenges trying to squeeze almost all of the electronic functionality into a box half the size of the original QC, but really happy with how it turned out – especially the analogue frontend and AD/DA performance.

@benda@kolektiva.social I believe the TL07x range is better for audio applications

@benda@kolektiva.social The high impedance input design of the Micromp is better suited for guitar pickups. The FET based input stage of the TL062 opamp will be less noisy than the BJT used in LM386 when using guitar pickups. The TL062 also has much less output current, which in this case is a good thing, as it makes it harder to accidentally damage something, especially under fault conditions.

@benda@kolektiva.social If you are looking for a way to boost your guitar signal level, I would have a look at building an MXR Microamp clone. There is a good explanation of the circuit at electrosmash, and this would be much better suited for your application than the LM386
