@Terry@poa.st @internetfreak@poa.st @randbot@poa.st @JuicyGothMommyFeet@nicecrew.digital @AmericanSpartan@poa.st The secret to an organisation such as this is good leadership yes but even more importantly excellent organisation. This is how the unprepossessing bespectacled chicken farmer Himmler took the handful of SS Hitler's bodyguard and built them up into a tremendous fighting force, against the wishes and efforts of not only the German Army but also jealous colleagues.
Heinrich Himmler's transformation of the SS from a small bodyguard unit into a massive, powerful organisation was a masterclass in organisational development, political maneuvering, and strategic expansion. His approach combined pedantic precision, ideological vision, and ruthless pragmatism to build a structure that rivaled and often surpassed established institutions like the German Army.
Leaving aside the alleged dodgy goings on by Mike and Terry there must have been a massive failure of organisation - and organisation and organisers are vital. Hitler couldn't be bothered to get his arse out of bed before noon and was not 'detail orientated' so it needed the exceptional skills of Himmler to manage this.
Membership grew from 280 men in 1929 to over 50,000 by 1933.
Himmler systematically built the SS into a multi-faceted organisation with distinct branches:
General SS (Allgemeine-SS): The main administrative and political branch that expanded throughout Germany.
Armed SS (Waffen-SS): Initially created as Hitler's personal bodyguard regiment (Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler), this evolved into a formidable military force. Himmler developed it from a few regiments into over 20 divisions with half a million men, establishing a command structure to rival the German Army.
Security Services: He created the SD (Sicherheitsdienst; Security Service) in 1931 as the SS intelligence agency, and later consolidated control of the Gestapo (secret state police) and criminal police forces.
Now the NJP obviously a much smaller outfit , but not at the start! As Terry states. And one needs this kind of vision to realise that one needs different structures in an organisation such as this. And SECURITY is key!
Himmler demonstrated a keen ability to select highly competent and ruthless subordinates, most notably Reinhard Heydrich, who became chief of the Security Police and SD. This delegation allowed Himmler to expand the SS's responsibilities while maintaining centralised control.
One needs to seek out those with these exceptional abilities , not just rely on 'mates'.
What were the qualities that Steve Jobs had above all to build Apple computers? He was first and foremost a headhunter and got the right people for the job.
By 1943, Himmler's organisational empire had grown so vast that he was appointed Minister of the Interior, giving him control over Reich administration and civil services. The SS had truly become a "state within a state," with its own military, police, intelligence, economic enterprises, and ideological framework—all built through Himmler's meticulous organisational skills and political acumen.
There is no reason that the NJP could not have turned itself into a serious political force given that it had funds and goodwill. What was lacking from this perspective was vision and organisation and yes, political acumen.
