This week we launched a new ambitious plan to make Ireland the best place in Europe to be LGBTQI+ by 2027.

The plan was officially launched in the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission by Minister Roderic O' Gorman T.D.

The Department of Justice public consultation on the disregard of historic convictions for consensual sex between men closes this Friday at 5 pm.

We were delighted to have the opportunity to meet the EU Commissioner for Justice, Didier Reynders, in Dublin this morning.

In our exchange, alongside other civil society groups, we stressed the need for more proactive measures to tackle hate crimes and online hate speech.

Today, we stop and think of those affected by the senseless violence that occurred in Club Q, Colorado Springs over the weekend.

Our thoughts are with the victims, survivors, their families, friends and the wider LGBTQI+ community in Colorado.

There is no place for hate.

We are conscious that the current rise in aggression towards the LGBTQI+ community can cause people to feel anxious or afraid. We would encourage anyone affected to reach out to our LGBT Helpline.

This morning, along with our partners in the National Action Group for LGBT+ Traveller and Roma Rights, we launched the research "Experiences of LGBTI+ Traveller & Roma" in Outhouse, Dublin.

Have you heard about our LGBT+ Telefriending Service?

Telefriending is a great opportunity for older community members to connect with another person who identifies as LGBTI+ to share joy, laughter including mutual connection and support by telephone.

Volunteers are trained and garda vetted, offering a confidential telephone call once per week.

Together with our partners from the Coalition Against Hate Crime, we were delighted to meet the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee TD tonight to mark the introduction of the Incitement to Violence or Hatred and Hate Offences Bill 2022, which will be debated in the Dáil tomorrow.
