Look guys, the Death Star is just a tool, like a crowbar or a gun or an alligator.

If someone uses that tool for evil, that's for us to hold them accountable, it's not the technology that's evil!

Besides, Death Stars are the future. You'll all be wishing you lived on a Death Star once all these pesky planets are made obsolete (obliterated by a powerful energy beam).

I don't think Wizards are actually going to do a Harry Potter set for Magic The Gathering, despite rumours (Hasbro has the license for the toy line for the franchise, for example), but if they did I would simply never ever purchase a single product from them ever again.

It's not that hard to proxy everything. If anything it's easier than getting the cards normal style. I don't do it now, because I like the cards and I like having real things I can trade if/when I'm done with them, and I also really enjoy attending Draft and Sealed events. But they'll all be of zero value if the parent company decides to partner with someone who wants to kill me.

They will lose thousands of players and, if my LGS is anything to go by, attendance at their events will halve. Trans people are a substantial portion of the current player base for mtg - I don't think they would court such an obviously ultra-controversial partnership when this is already their golden goose. Hasbro needs the playerbase to not all leave to go play one of the dozens of other less popular CCGs, or to just stop buying products and proxy everything instead.

Absolutely fantastic. Brilliant tactical puzzles, a lovable cast, exciting plot, and so very fucking funny.

Inventing a slur for Generative AI means you consider it a valid target for dehumanisation, for which you would first need to anthropomorphise it.

Treating the machine as if it is an entity that can be degraded - as opposed to a mathematical system producing human-readable outputs - is still the thing "AI" companies want! It still feeds the narrative of them producing something that thinks. Even beyond the sketchy nature of needing to create a slur to express your disapproval, this is still a fail at the most basic level.

Also we've been able to call automated bad actors "bots" for years, you could just say that. Your opting for a neologism suggests a deeper problem in your approach.

Nobody should feel obliged to watch footage of a murder, I don't even know why you would think that's necessary. Do you feel so powerless that deliberately witnessing the horrors as some warped form of solidarity is the only agency you still hold?

This isn't going to strengthen you and galvanise you into action. You already know what is happening without having to see the events with your own eyes. This is just self-harm.
