Things I learned in high school shop class: a) never use oil near an oxygen tank, and this is the pertinent one, b) never toss an oily rag into a bin. Seems wheeled bins would be extremely useful in a major laundry service.
It's a big boat, lots of disgruntled crewmembers. And it's not like they can trace that back to a single sailor, rag takes time to generate heat. They could have done it repeatedly, just this time the cleaners were running behind?
