All good, and I respect your perspective!
I know you were like “flame me!” Lol, But hope I wasn’t sounding too judgy. I think it’s hard not to have strong opinions on the topic either way these days. (And I’m already prone to soapboxing haha.)
Wishing you the best out there. :)

“…enabled me to deliver value in a fraction of the time I expected.”
I don’t wanna flame you for it.
This is kinda where I see vibe coding taking off the most: The same phenomenon as using LLMs to summarize and reply to pithy business emails. Business gets so unbearably businessy, people are using machines to bypass the inherently un-human “professionalism performance” for them.
It might not be work anybody can claim to be proud of, but right now success for the professional-managerial class runs on looking busy and circling back to synergizing the workflow with best practices for optimal returns regarding key performance metrics 🤢 or whatnot.
I don’t blame people for it, in a work context. Looking impressive with AI tools is now a survival tactic when working under normies holding the purse strings and investing stupid amounts of money into the bubble. They’ve forced people to be part of a circular, self-reinforcing imaginary reality they’re profiting from.
So, I don’t wanna flame you. I just hope you’re doing something fundamentally human to keep your soul alive on the side, at least. Something you as a unique human being on this earth can be proud of. <3

Have I been on 10 years? I dunno, but I like to think I'm pretty experienced for an amateur.
OpenSUSE Tumbleweed! It rolls! It games! It works with newer hardware and gets along sorta reasonably with Nvidia!
Best part? If any of that ISN'T true (rarely after an update), it seamlessly integrates BTRFS snapshots with the boot menu, to just roll back and wait like a week til the wonderful souls working on it, fix stuff.
The community is also very supportive.

Sincerely, thank you for spelling it out to the rest of the class.
These things are always worded 'agreeably' enough that by the time we're done going back and forth debating it all day, they've pushed even more invasive policies on us.

I think back then it was generally assumed this simply assisted with office communication.
Imagine telling a UNIX engineer in the 70's how almost everything you enter into a machine would eventually be used to manipulate or entrap you by the State and surveillance capitalism.

I was thinking that too, just looking at the image is giving me a headache imagining squinting at your screen notched up to full blast and still dim, through your sunglasses.
What in the stock image hell is this. Lmao

> I would dare to say doomscrolling in lemmy is impossible
Could just be my ADHD but I'd like to contest this. Maybe we need to be really careful about the communities we follow, but besides Linux stuff and some other niche group there's a lot of politics on Lemmy, and while there's a lot of insightful discussion there's a high concentration of unhinged doomerism.
I sometimes feel like I'm addicted, not because of the algorithm but because of the feedback loop that I need to know what's going on, and I want to reach out and communicate...

I might have a lot of fun things that aren’t legal in California. Never thought my OS would be one, but here we are.
If people went out of their way to learn a damn thing about computers, and all-consuming jobs didn’t force entire generations raised without parents, and let their 6 year olds on social media / online gaming / whatever unsupervised, maybe there’d be more backlash to the state and corporations trying to step in as parental figures.
…Wish that wasn’t too friggin’ much to ask.

Handle checks OUT.
I have to believe there’s still work like this out there: Time to chill between tasks and not having over the shoulder supervision.

For snazzy layouts for publishing and stuff, you might want to give Scribus a try! It's like an alternative to Microsoft's "Publisher."
