@energisch_ @alineblankertz @roofjoke @netzpolitik_feed ... in der Praxis aber führt dies vor allem zum Bau und Förderung "europäischer Alternativen" die dann in ganz europäisch die Rechte aller verletzen (siehe: Frontex, Überwachungs- und Tracking-Unternehmen, deutsche "KI" bei der Schwarz Gruppe -- ich glaube @Lilith hatte da vor einiger Zeit noch Mal klasse Beispiele gebracht).
Nicht, dass wir keine europäischen Digitalpolitik brauchen, aber dass ein Markt dabei nur eingeschränkt Platz hat.

First talk of today's #CablesOfResistance: a talk by Dr. Silvia Weko from #FAU (the university not the union) on the role of big tech in energy transition through cloud computing. Nice to see a nuanced view on the technologies followed by an analysis on how this leads to bi-directional, structural dependencies between energy and cloud computing companies. As noted yesterday in the keynote: interoperability only works between a small few cloud companies.

@halbwach @ErikUden ich bin ja jetzt keine Expert*in für politische Beobachtung, aber würde erwarten, dass Opposition die Änderungen im Ganzen abgelehnt hatte.
Das allgemeine (und spannendere) Problem, dass die Gesetzesvorhaben nicht vollständig angesehen/verstanden werden, ist leider nichts neues und hat strukturelle Gründe (kurze Zeitabständen und intransparente Darstellung, siehe Diskussion rund um Synopsenpflicht).

@rupert @tante there's an obvious connection to a critique of capitalism here, but I don't think that's the whole story, since we're seeing lots of open source projects both using and doing LLM stuff. It's not really a clean cut between open source and closed source anymore (it probably never was, though..)

@rupert @tante I was thinking of a different perspective - a lack of appreciation for quality in IT overall.
Obviously there are many people out there wo maintain their projects with care, even in commercial settings. But thinking back to when I was a teenager, the "have you tried turning it off and on again" approach was already the norm. Society already accepted IT is a mess and this makes it hard to see how the impact of AI on quality is harmful, even as it leads to more systematic problems.
