I use LinuxMint and have been since 2018 or so. I have been using since 2007. Though the first time I tried using it was in 2003 but it didn't go well for me at the time.

Democracy is only as good as the voters. The average Chinese is better educated and a better citizen overall than the average USAmerican. Thus the difference in results.

As a first step, see if you can get by by just using FOSS software on Windows. If you can, then you will lose nothing, swapping your “app launcher” is inconsequential if the programs you use are the same. Wine/Proton are very good when it comes to game support, so you should be alright there. You can always check protonbd and winehq to confirm the support status of the game you want. I recommend a boring and stable distro like LinuxMint. It is based on Ubuntu but even better imho.

Using GNU+Linux is not much of a challenge, I have been doing it for 20 years. I want another ReactOS challenge.
