This week the National Federation of the Blind learned that Vispero has changed its chief executive officer, appointing an interim CEO while a permanent replacement is identified. We expect to meet with the interim leader soon and remain hopeful about continuing a constructive partnership on products that significantly affect the education and employment of blind people, especially during this critical time for screen-reader users.

i have boarded a United flight at Newark headed to Deli, India. It is my honor to serve as an officer of the World Blind Union on behalf of the North American Caribbean Region and the National Federation of the Blind. I am eagerly anticipating the opportunity to experience the culture of the country and spend time learning about the experience of the blind of India and other nations. Time to settle in for a long trip.

This week I have been on the road working with partners of the National Federation of the Blind. I always enjoy shared time with great people, some long time colleagues and others who I am just getting to know. While our nation is big, the stories of blind people are often the same in terms of the low expectations and artificial barriers we face. I spent the first part of the week in San Diego and I am now in Tucson, Arizona, for the 1st time.

This afternoon I have enjoyed doing planning with WBU delegates for proposals we will advance this week, attending a session on human rights advocacy efforts, and zipping through the exhibit area. I am now in the Designing Accessible Cities break out where the German delegate is currently sharing the worldwide efforts on quiet cars including the leadership provided by the National Feeration of the Blind. In fact, NFB'S John Pare is in Geneva now fighting for the standard.
