Since I've been at the university for five years, I'm now eligible for promotion. I put in my paperwork last year and have been answering the review committee's inquiries since then. Found out that the decision will be made a week from tomorrow.

Spent several hours on Saturday taking a mandatory self-guided course on workplace harassment. (Spoiler: Workplace harassment is a bad thing.) Took the test before the course, then again afterwards. Got 95% both times. Needed 80% to pass.

Spend more time Sunday with the course on disability accommodation. (Spoiler: Don't be a dick.) Needed 80% to pass that one, too. It had one question. One.

I am both gobsmacked and gutted that the liberal leader of the UK may go down because he appointed people who knew Epstein, while the convicted felon fascist leader of the US, who knew Epstein personally, lies about it, lies about it some more, and posts racist videos and lies about them, isn't remotely being touched by any of this.

I just signed up to go to Balticon 60. I have been two other times. The first was Balticon 10. That's right I'm going to a science fiction convention that I first attended 50 years ago.
