@BroDrillard The ultimatum to intern the fleet or scuttle it happened after the Franco-German armistice. There was no idea of using it against Germany and Vichy France was going to be a pseudo-ally of Germany anyways.
The attack was totally justified from the British perspective. The French would ALSO have been totally justified if they had declared war on Britian after the attack, but that didn't happen unfortunately.
