I once saw a barmaid singing along to a popular song, and jump onto a table while singing. The whole bar joined in, singing and dancing. Moments after the song ended, my friends came back into the room, where everything was back to normal, and they didn't believe that anything had happened!

Except that doesn’t work when you have memory issues that mean you have to see the thing to remember it

I can use the terminal in short bursts, but switching to black text on a white background just looks wrong. I might just have to suffer >.<

We’ve already got the technology to remake them as SSDs too. SATA drives are small and light enough, and eSATA is removable, possibly hot swappable. We’ve been able to eject optical discs with software for decades. A physically small drive inside a floppy shaped caddy wouldn’t take much work, and could be much faster than flash memory based drives. I don’t know enough about nvme drives, but they could be even better again :)

Maybe a daft question, but have you tried a factory reset? I’ve got a Xiaomi Mi 10t Lite 5g that’s having a lot of the same sort of problems, but a reboot tends to fix them temporarily. I’m hoping that once I get my new phone at Christmas, I can completely wipe this one, including the cache, and see if that helps.
