The erasure of federal LGBTQ data

On January 20, 2025, President Donald Trump issued an executive order stating that the federal government would no longer recognize transgender, nonbinary, and intersex people. Ths new report finds that, following the order, approximately 360 federal data collections have removed at least one sexual orientation or gender identity (SOGI) measure in the past year.

Of the 360 removals, 338 removed the option for people to indicate their gender identity. However, 60 data collections also removed sexual orientation data elements, even though the executive order did not require it.

SOGI measures were removed from various federal data collections, including administrative surveys and national surveys such as the CDC’s Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System.

I spent about half of my work day yesterday being angry about something that the IT department did. Today a co-worker reminded me that a couple of years ago my gallbladder burst, and I should have died. Everything after that is a bonus. With that perspective, there is nothing at work that should ever be important enough to warrant any anger from me.

Kansas considers restricting food and medical assistance even further

I often ask myself, "What would Jesus do?"

I think He would offer a cup of cold water to people who are thirsty. He would not add extra drama and trauma to their already difficult lives. I believe God loves all Kansans, no matter their income level. We can't make government so itty-bitty that we have nothing left.

Trump administration sued for tearing down Pride flags while leaving Confederate flags up

"This was no careless mistake. The government has not removed other historical flags at other national monuments, most notably Confederate flags," the lawsuit alleges. "Meanwhile, the assault on Stonewall is the latest example in a long line of efforts by the Trump Administration to target the LGBTQ+ community for discrimination and opprobrium."
