The online world is quickly moving from sharing weird stories and commenting "This is not the Onion" to sharing totally sensible stories from The Onion and having to comment "This is The Onion".

I wondered how to do something related to @mediawiki@wikis.world in Python and SQL.

I started writing a question for an LLM.

But then I decided to ask humans and started writing a question on the MediaWiki Discord server.

But then I realized that there's a tool that already does something very similar to what I want to do, and started writing a question about it on the tool's talk page.

But then I just read the tool's documentation myself, and it gave me the answer.

Such things happen occasionally.

Don't panic.

It's official, formal, confirmed, diagnosed.

I've felt that I am for a while and I have made very big hints about it here, and now it's final.

It sucks in some ways, and it's great in some other ways, but most of all it's just a name for what I've always been.

It's too complicated to describe in such a short post, so I'm writing a much longer one, that I will perhaps even publish someday.

Any day is a good day to recall how on my first Introduction to Linguistics lesson in the Hebrew University the department head warned us to stay away from Chomsky and anything remotely related to him.

Not because of his treatment of women (it was 2002), and very definitely not because of his politics, even though it was in Israel—much of that department was super-leftist.

It was purely professional: He said it because he thought that his theories about language were nonsense.
