We did some WILD EXPERIMENTATION today using CUTTING EDGE TECHNOLOGY to print on plastic.

The results are so much better than expected. There's still a lot of work that we'll need to do to get this to a production standard, but we should be able to use these techniques to add high quality colored details to our toys in short order.

I'm experimenting with running a concurrent double live stream to youtube and peertube from a low price, generic vps.

I don't expect this to work well.

I've been tweaking settings for hours, and really just need to go to bed, but I'm dropping links here.

I'll leave the server running all night. I don't think there will be anything to see, I expect that the youtube link will buffer forever, and the peertube video will stutter between videos.

But I'm going to leave it up and running all night to see if it gets better if I stop tinkering with it, and to generate some telemetry for me to deal with tomorrow.

There was an incident on the highway in Virginia at the exit that I lived on.

I've talked a lot about the 1915 Italian science fiction film Filibus. It's the one about the Mysterious Air Pirate who is, apparently, genderfluid and bisexual and engages in various heists and schemes.

It's the basis for my original fiction series The Mysterious Air Pirates and part of an ongoing series of Sky Pirate material we're releasing for Mountain Town Toys. Until today, there were a few ways to watch it:

- Watch it on wikimedia commons or another internet site without a score, and with stolen translated intertitles from the eye film institute.

- Watch a very poor copy with, I think, Dutch intertitles, which had a generic score and was floating around a few websites.

- Buy the bluray from Milestone and The Eye Film Institute, with a score, and with the Eye Film Institute intertitles.

Announcing the Community Broadcasting Network

For me, that question started with New Ellijay Television (https://newellijay.tv). NETV is a community access station in the north Georgia mountains, powered by local producers. It's real TV for real people in one specific place. That project taught me that the tools for making television are now in everyone's hands. The only thing missing was a reason to use them together.

I tried to write down those reasons in a book called Community Media (https://communitymedia.network). It's a handbook for what I called a revolution in DIY TV. The message was simple: produce your own media, become the media, join the revolution.

But a book can only do so much. Television needs a network.

So here it is. The Community Broadcasting Network (https://communitybroadcasting.network) (the website isn't finished, but it's good enough for now!) is a new hub for creative, community centered storytelling.

It's for the people who are already making videos about their towns, their passions, their small things. It's also for people who are tired of the algorithmic feed and want to watch something real.

The network will live on both YouTube and PeerTube. We're using the big platforms to reach people, but we're also planting a flag on the independent web. That feels important.
