While the election has already been decided, all of this information is still extremely important to share as we prepare for our future in this country together.
If you are more conservative, I want you to know that the abortion ban is not just about taking out babies if someone doesn’t want babies. It’s also about being able to interfere if there are complications with the pregnancy and the doctor needs to take the baby out to save both the baby and the mother, like c-sections to save the mothers life. My grandma had a c-section, and things would’ve been way different if she passed away all that time ago, or imprisoned because she gave birth to a still born, (because you can go to jail for “murdering” your child by giving birth to a still born) and that’s just the harsh truth.
And if you don’t believe in gay people, whether you like it or not, it’s not who they chose to be, it’s just who they are, just like you don’t choose to be attracted to men or women, you just are. And just because you don’t choose to accept their sexuality, doesn’t make them less human, it just hurts them to not have access to the same rights that we as heterosexual people have fortunately do.
I really hope that you’ll be able to consider your own rights as an individual, and how we still face a lot of discrimination in our subcategories that make up our identity, but as a heterosexual, Asian, woman, I understand I have privileges in this society compared to other minority/subcategories of less accepted orientations, but there is still so much discrimination that I still face and need to stand up to change.
Trump was president before, and things didn’t seem as bad, but consider the last 4 years we’ve had the least productive legislative branch— meaning NOT because of the current president Biden and vice president Harris, BUT the people that trump put into the senate chairs the last time he was president, and with more republicans in the branch, he’s going to decrease taxes for billionaires and put tariffs on everything so everything will be more expensive for the average American. And even more than that, medicaid and fafsa are also on the line. He couldn’t do it last time because again, the house of senate was a more reasonable distribution of democrat and republican representatives at the time of his presidency, but now with an overwhelming majority as republicans, there’s really nothing that will stop him from passing things like this.
I’m privileged enough to have the mindset that “everything happens for a reason” but there are some people who never had the privilege to chose the reality that they are living, and you could never even imagine how stark it can be when you don’t acknowledge your own privilege of living a fairly normal life. So please, challenge your biases and think critically because we create better solutions when we have diverse minds contributing to our shared future. #uspol #president #harris #art
