I remembered 2) from reading the books several times 50 years ago so I was quite pleased with myself.
I checked online and I didn't like the US arms company that has appropriated the name:
.....is a company that develops and produces autonomous systems for land, sea and air, powered by an AI-based operating system called Lattice.

Is ordering "a chip" an expression exclusive to us nordies?
I remember "a chip and a mineral" from my youth but I've never heard it elsewhere.

And here's the response I got. Not very "accessible" really:

And of course the PDF version is not very accessible on a small screen either!

Interestingly when you follow the link you get this on the bottom of the page:

If you require an accessible version please contact information@dpmc.govt.nz and cite "New Zealand's Cyber Security Action Plan 2026 – 2027" as a reference.
Perhaps InternetNZ could ask why don't they make the Accessible version accessible on line so that people who need

Now it's too important not to.
The questions are how and when?

I agree NZ govt doesn't own .nz but then neither does InternetNZ. It's held in stewardship for the community by InternetNZ. And there's an memorandum of understanding with NZ govt where that is agreed.
But, and this is the big but, if NZ govt was to change its stance to say InternetNZ was no longer a fit and proper steward of the domain then ICANN would hand it over. And that has happened elsewhere.

But somewhere along the track we're going to need to stop asking "How do we push the FSU back again this year?" and start asking "How can we make the .nz namespace secure so that no special interest group can control it?"
My view is that ultimately .nz is a piece of critical infrastructure and should fall under govt control.

I saw something recently on Mastodon but on checking it appears to be the 2019 story resurfacing. My apologies.
But the principle remains. It would be very easy for a right wing group to get agreement from the current government for the sale of .nz
If the health system, the water system are targets, why wouldn't they?

Back in 2002, the global Internet Society (ISOC) was given the role of stewards of the .org domain. They created PIR, the Public Interest Registry to manage it. I served on the board of PIR for the first few years and there was tension even then about how .org was to be milked as a cash cow vs the public interest.
A few months ago ISOC sold .org to venture capitalists. I was not pleased.
I don't want to see that happen here. Ask yourself what will the FSU do in this scenario?
