To catch you up, fediverse is a superset of mastodon and also includes lots of non microblogging type things people have been trying to make, like Peertube (https://joinpeertube.org) and BookWyrm (https://bookwyrm.social/). My impression is that most people use fedi for microblogging though still, that's the vast majority of use cases.

Also cheers on self hosting! One thing you might not realize is that your personal Mastodon/whatever won't "pull" posts from the wider fedi. The "federated" feed is not "every Mastodon instance", it's literally "every post from every person someone on your instance follows". So if you really want to cast a wide net, follow tons of poeple (though my impression of you is that you'd do that anyways!)

Here is your biannual reminder. It is Daylight Saving Time, no plural, because it is "A system of time for saving daylight". It is not Daylight Savings and Loan.

@vuuc@troet.cafe I am not one of these players and don't intend to become one. But I really think this is a valid strat. Definitely not idiots. This is way more noble and legit than emoting "Don't shoot" and shooting you in the back.
