Really need to stop arguing with folk who believe "late stage" is a thing.
The term "capitalism" first appears in print in 1850 (Blanc). Supposed "late capitalism" was identified by Sombart as starting in 1918.
At this point, supposed capitalism has been "late" for 108 of the 176 years, or three fifths of the time, during which "capitalism" has been a word.
It's easier to imagine a forever late stage of capitalism than to imagine that capitalist society, in the metropole at least, is mostly dead and buried.
For to mourn the demiurge would be to enter into an uncertain territory, of rentier society and whatever might come after, for which canonical 19th-century maps, however indelible, are ill-suited.
So capitalism the revenant, the malevolent Jesus figure that refuses to die, son of the god-idol state, haunts us still, and forever shall haunt those for whom retrofutures are the only imaginable present.

Watching a video of folk looking though home decor magazines from the 70s, listening to them be triggered with childhood memories of growing up as 80s kids in households decorated in the 70s, and reading a comment section of other folk sharing in the same memories...
And wondering what planet this version of the 70s had unfolded on, as it certainly wasn't one myself or my childhood peers inhabited.
My 70s was the decade of stagflation, not the riotous vomits of raucous color and over-the-top adornment that these magazines depict.

A society in which housing is a perk, to which humans, as individuals, have a right, is a society that squanders flourishing in deference to the fortunate.
But then, the Fortunate Isles, a/k/a the Islands of the Blessed, were that land in the western ocean, at the edge of the known world (sit with that geography), that "bore all pleasant fruits to their happy dwellers", those judged to be thrice-fold especially pure.
Quisitiarchy is rule by happy dwellers, by rent-bounty harvest of all the pleasant fruits, because they, by their own autohagiographic account, are pure. For is the pure, and not the society, who are fortunate.
For a society to flourish, housing can't be a mere individual right, owed to individuals by society. For society to flourish, housing must be an essential organ of society itself. Not an enshrined promise due to individuals, but a metabolic requirement of the whole. Not fortunate wealth but fundamental wellness.
A society of mere rights is fundamentally unwell.
