Traditionally, everyone dresses up very well. It’s a very beautiful and fancy looking celebration. Everyone is happy.
Children typically get new clothes and new shoes.
Children are a part of the excitement, and they know they’re about to get gifts, and the Eidiyat (some Eid money).

Only people who are able should fast: if one is ill, injured, pregnant, too young, too old, then one shouldn’t fast. If you’re travelling and the trip is physically trying, then you don’t have to fast.

How are you?
This is the second day of #Ramadan in #Gaza.
The fast itself starts every day at the first light of day (and it ends at sunset). It coincides with one of the five daily prayers, Fajr. Before Fajr, we eat a morning meal called Suhoor. My family always wakes up and eats this meal all together. It’s wonderful.
Ramadan is a very communal experience. Everyone supports each other and is in a good mood.

Tonight is the first night of the holy month of Ramadan: the new moon crescent was just seen.
This means we’re entering a month of purification, of reflection, of joy and celebration too!
It’s a month of fasting, of prayer, of sharing and kindness. It contains the Night of Destiny, and it ends with the Festival of Breaking the Fast.
This is our 3rd Ramadan since the genocide in #Gaza began. I pray next year is better.

I haven’t received any donations in days.
There are 19 of us in my family relying on donations to subsist. We’re still sheltered in a disaffected school, between classrooms converted into dorms, and tents in a school yard, with no intimacy and no reliable access to heating, warm clothes, running water, or even food.

I was always quite an active, sporty and healthy child. I always loved playing football, and exercising with my friends and cousins. But a little while before the war started, things changed.
One day, I was sitting with my cousins, chatting and laughing, when suddenly my heart felt a sharp pain and pressure. I also felt short of breath. I washed my face and felt a little better until the pain subsided. But the next day, the pressure in my heart and chest suddenly increased.
