Listening to a TTC briefing on transit signal priority and the relief of staff having clear direction from council to do it properly, finally, is so visible.
Great videos showing proof of benefits on Spadina, and sneak peeks at modeling tools too.
Plans to prioritize multiple bus and streetcar lines this year.
Makes me feel optimistic for surface transit.

A good column from The Line's Matt Gurney, explicitly talking about how we need to do more to stop the lawbreakers, not protests in general, because it is getting more dangerous for everyone in our city.
One correction to the column though: not everyone is showing up. I was very disappointed to see Mayor Chow not there, after multiple years of being asked for more visibility to fight anti-Semitism in Toronto.

Three Toronto synagogues have been shot at in less than a week. One of the ones yesterday is beside my friends’ house.
It is scary to see so much increase in anti-Semitic hate.

I heard someone talk about impressive things they were able to do with large language models, and then later heard them complain without irony about AI tools being used to plagiarize their work. Cognitive dissonance is fascinating.

Toronto’s “Rock, Button, Scissors” curling league for queer women and trans folk is holding its first bonspiel in January!

Great dinner to open the season with my Curling team tonight: the traditional start to the season, in which we have too many drinks, and then we are not sober until May.
