The lack of nested threads by default really makes Mastodon unusable IMO
@darckcrystale@pipou.academy wow this is fascinating thank you! I can see the federated aspect helping but getting pretty messy with missing references/followers due to defunct nodes
So what happens if the person hosting a particular Mastodon instance shuts it down? Do they own all the data/can delete anything they want?

The fact that threads aren't collapsed by default is very confusing - I just see fragments of conversations in reverse chronological order!
