The Ridgewood Tenants Union is an all-volunteer and tenant-led anti-gentrification group working together to grow the power of working-class tenants and unhoused people in Ridgewood, Maspeth, Glendale, and Middle Village. Founded in 2014 and demanding safe and stable housing for all, they organize together to fight displacement.

In this session, we will be talking about landlord tech, how it exacerbates housing injustice, and what rights tenants have to protect themselves.

Catch us at Wonderville for a screening of Seeking Mavis Beacon (2024, dir by Jazmine Jones) which “investigates the disappearance and reexamines the legacy of one of the most influential Black women in technology.” This documentary questions the simultaneous commodification & erasure of black people in tech spaces, a topic that is as relevant as ever with the exploitation of Black avatars in the age of AI.
