“Take it from me, whenever you see a bunch of buggers puttering around talking about truth and beauty and the best way of attacking Ethics, you can bet your sandals it’s because dozens of other poor buggers are doing all the real work around the place.” Pratchett, SMALL GODS

A young lady told me on the bus today that she loved my style and gave her something to look forward to.
For those wishing to be as stylish, red rain clogs, barrel jeans, and a blue wool pullover are très à la mode today.

Went to my former church today and the interim associate rector (a woman) gave a solid sermon riffing on W. H. Auden's "Musée des Beaux-Arts." The new rector looks spectacular in the vestments (this church has some seriously good stuff). An N95 mask protected me against the incense, and no one was bemused by the fact that I take only the bread. Also, the music was excellent.
I reported to my adult kid (we used to belong to this church when they were little) and my kid said they would try to go themself if just to admire the new rector. And they said, "It’s the whole pitch for Episcopalianism that the sermons are an extended intellectual jam session for Christ." which OMG hits the nail on the head.
The other thing I like about this particular sector of the Episcopal Church is that you have to recite the Creed and all, but no one actually expects you to believe in God, just to be socially responsible and enjoy the heck out of singing and ritual.

I have belonged to Metafilter since, oh, 2004 ,and recently made the mistake of (a) reading more than the first few comments on a FPP (b) reading MetaTalk (c) reading r/metafiltermeta, and apparently people live there and have lots of disagreements.
I obviously have too much time on my hands these days. I always treated Metafilter as a place to get some interesting links. And I got some great advice in some Asks.
