From what occasional echoes still hit me, or affect me through my day job, I'm really happy that I slowly drifted away from the #python community and never wrote any hobby projects that they could use to hold me hostage in python 3. It really was a warning sign. I guess that's what being influenced by big commercial corporations eventually does to a project. I still like most of the language, but if I went to a conference, I probably couldn't stay in the same room as some of those people.

I think a big problem with the entire idea of copyright law is that it was conceived to in a world of commerce, where the idea of ownership is: you own what you create and what you buy. It seems to be a fair law in that context.

But then it is actually used in the world of landlords and rentiers, where the idea of ownership is: you own what you can claim and defend. And suddenly everything changes, big players get all the protections, and individuals get none, because they have no power.

TFW you can't decide whether to take a sick day or not on a particular day, because you feel bad practically all the time, but you can't be on sick leave all the time.

I wonder if there already are fully automated patent troll pipelines out there, that file generated patents and sue companies that might be infringing them completely without any human intervention.
