my intuition is that this is not a market that is easily saturated — there will always be a particular charm to checking your horoscope or reading tea leaves
whereas divination &c were usefully limited in applications, LLMs assert broader relevance and so are insinuating themselves into mundane processes where people used to use common sense or talk to one another. What is being eroded is not so much jobs but human relations & cognitive resources

we can consider "AI" at different time depths — deep learning (2010s), cybernetics (1950s), automation (1800s), but in this paper I argue that to understand its *interactive* appeal we must further broaden our outlook

Grossman did not live to see this incredible novel published. The KGB seized the manuscript in 1960 and it went missing for twenty years; Grossman died in 1964. The ms resurfaced in the 1980s thanks to a dissident and appeared in English translation in 1985

Our #LLM openness tracker https://opening-up-chatgpt.github.io/ now includes >30 instruction-tuned ('chat') alternatives to ChatGPT. Most promising newcomer is AmberChat by LLM360: "we release all intermediate model checkpoints, our fully-prepared pre-training dataset, all source code and configurations, and training details. We are committed to continually pushing the boundaries of LLMs through this open-source effort."
Refreshing to see something different from the usual Llama2 and Mistral knockoffs
