Oh god, I've just remembered a time on holiday when he went to bite into a perfectly innocuous hamburger, and discovered a single slice of tomato. He was so outraged he threw up on his plate.
That was fun.

When my kid was four and refusing to go to bed, he once stood at the top of the stairs, holding tight to the stair gate, looked me dead in the eye, and shit himself.
On the one hand I was impressed with the show of superiority, but on the other, I did briefly consider having him adopted.
So yeah, I get it.

They didn't. As far as I'm aware they bought the competition.
Waze serves a slightly different purpose to Maps, being a friendlier face that's more of a driving GPS than Maps is. And while they don't really market it as a Google product, people will use it thinking it's a good alternative to using Google or Apple.

Same here. Trouble is, those aren't "savings", the price with the card is now just the price. If you don't have a card, you have to pay an inflated price. A privacy tax, if you will.

Funny enough, I installed Win11 on a friend's HP convertible laptop today.
A 2GHz i3 and 4GB RAM, and it was still entirely usable. Not powerful by any means, but a fine socials browser, YouTube viewer, and document writer.
I'd have preferred to put Debian on it, but it wasn't my call, so I did as requested.

I’ve got Monzo working with my Garmin. I use Graphene, so it’s literally my only option for payments considering Curve failed my ID check and refuse to reply to my emails trying to sort it out.

For what it’s worth, I was planning on reinstalling my home server because I put Mint on it a year ago and I kinda feel like I’ve outgrown it. So it’s now running Debian.
It obviously feels a lot more useful than Mint, but feels basically the same as my Kubuntu machine, largely because they’re both running Plasma.

Everyone is tracking everything anyway, but having been a user of Apple products since 2007, they’ve got what they can on me.

From a European perspective, at this stage I think I’d prefer the Chinese tech over the American.

I use an Apple TV with mine. You can control the TV and soundbar from its one small remote.

Yeah, my LG OLED is a genuinely wonderful thing, with which 99% of its use is via an Apple TV. The other 1% is me casting my phone to it, because it’s a Pixel and Apple are pricks who won’t let AirPlay work outside of their ecosystem.

I’m not fundamentally opposed to YT Premium, I just think it’s hilariously overpriced.
I’d need a family plan. That would cost me £20 a month, just so I can watch YT videos. I baulked at paying Netflix whatever the fuck they started charging a few years ago, but at least they’re producing multi-million pound shows.
I used to have Premium from Ukraine via VPN. It was great. I spent a year or so paying them five quid a month. Then they closed that loophole and now I pay them nothing, and download all the videos I want with yt-dlp into my Jellyfin server.
