Ah just looked up EX mode. Didn’t know capital Q entered a different mode, I just wrote “Q” to emphasize the key in general not capital Q specifically lol.
Personally I love vim, it’s just powerful enough for me for my bash scripts. Anything more complicated then I’m using a proper IDE or something more simple I’m using Kate or whatever graphical editor for my DE.

Nah, just looked it up. Recording mode is activated by pressing “q” and allows you to record your inputs for a macro. So if you forget to do “:” and just press “q” you’ll enter Recording mode and have to press “q” again to exit Recording and then you can do “:q” or whatever you needed.
But if you don’t know what you pressed and don’t know how to exit Recording mode then you’ll be stuck. I’ve seen coworkers get stuck in this from time to time.
We’re a RHEL shop so our vim version may be different, but Recording mode doesn’t let us exit vim directly, we have to exit Recording mode and then exit vim. Again, might just be our setup.

Just had a conversation at work about using Linux full time. Coworkers asking me what issues I have and what games I can play.
I mean it’s not all sunshine and rainbows…but I told them my Start Menu opens every time I need it. I don’t have explorer.exe randomly crashing. I can search in my Start Menu for things and they actually come up properly. Oh and with btrfs snapshots I can update whenever and if it breaks I just rollback and wait for a fix. Which has happened…once in the last 5 months of using Cachy+Plasma.
I feel like I can actually use my computer now. With Windows I dreaded doing updates. With Linux I update whenever I want and it doesn’t fucking bother me at all.

You can buy appliances without smart features still?
Best Buy has dozens, if not hundreds, of fridges without smart features. I can buy a 18cu top freezer fridge for $450 right now.
That same type of fridge back in the 1970s cost $300-$400. Adjusted for inflation that’s $2,000
So I don’t get this post. You can buy cheap fridges still and it’ll probably last a long time if you take care of it. Read repair reports or Google random problems for a fridge you’re looking to buy to see the most common failure points and see what the repair cost would be to factor in future costs.
Stupid post.

I just add the official launcher as a non-steam game and ran through the install as normal.
Granted I haven't done it in a couple of months, so not sure if that method still works...but I don't see why not

You should keep an eye on Gnome. Their recent release, Gnome 50, just introduced parental controls to limit access to programs and they're looking to implement website access as well.
I don't like Gnome, but my kid's first PC will have Gnome on it now because of these new features, which I greatly appreciate

Want a real schizo theory?
People are going to use the ID verification thing to see which accounts are child accounts, pull all details for those accounts and make a database of children’s accounts, and then sell that information to bad actors who plan to traffic children.

The average user trying to switch to Linux? YES, they would.
The average user like my mom? No, because she sure as shit doesn’t even know what Linux is nor how to make a bootable USB drive.
I’m sick and tired of this cop out answer of the “average” user.
This is like someone buying a car. Do you want to get a lemon? Sure, buy whatever “looks good” OR you do some RESEARCH and figure out what car to get from reliability reports.
Do you think a Mac user wanting to switch to Windows won’t do any research?

Supposedly Linus switched to Kubuntu, but we’ll have to wait for part 2 to see how that turned out. But from the WAN show I don’t think it went well.
My biggest issue is that there is zero information of what every is actually running.
“I’m running Kubuntu”, cool, what version? LTS or STS? What kernel? What version of Mesa drivers? How did you even install the OS? Ext4? Manual partitioning? Are you using swap?
But nope it’s “lol I installed pop again, shits still broken, Linux sucks! I’m cursed!”

My highschool, which I graduated mid 2010s, didn’t have lockers.
We had gym lockers, which was just to put our stuff for that one gym period, it wasn’t “our own”.
So, no. Not all highschools have lockers.

Personal anecdote here, so grain of salt.
But I was born in the mid90s. My dad is a tech geek, so we had a personal computer with Windows 95 and I was playing Adiboo on it at 2-3 years old. Also had a Gameboy with Pokemon. Played CS/HL/DOD in the early 2000s. All before we were going to the computer lab at my school.
So I’ve been entrenched in computers and tech my whole life. So I don’t think screen time itself is bad, but we also did not have tech in the classroom (except for the old school throw projectors).
So it probably doesn’t help that the classroom nowadays is all tech while also the kid’s home is all tech. It’s a balancing act.

Not sure why anyone is still using Verizon.
US Mobile has access to their networks and it's cheaper. Same service. Been with USM for nearly 2 years now. My parents and siblings all switched over too. Moved our numbers over with zero issues.
Verizon not in your area? Cool, USM also has access to T-Mobile and ATT.
People need to learn to shop around, especially in the current economy we're in.

There are millions of devices that still and will continue to use SATA.
My Synology NAS only accepts SATA. So if one of my SSDs dies I’m just shit out of luck and have to find a 8 bay M.2 NAS to have a comparable alternative?
Your comment is beyond ridiculous
