Most of my programming idols have turned out to just be normal people over the years, with flaws that are off-putting to me now. They definitely lived "... long enough to become the villain".

I wanted a #stomp implementation that was transport agnostic, but all I could find was a bunch of crates that used one or a few modes of transport (tcp, websockets, etc.) and most were tied to some other large ecosystem like tokio. So I forked async-stomp, tore out the transport stuff, and put in a silly little trait that you can implement to get STOMP without a lot of baggage https://crates.io/crates/stomp-agnostic
