Mint, after about 20 years of Linux. I think I tested a bunch of Linux distros about 2006, and settled on running Ubuntu v6 on an old laptop for occasional use and learning. Ubuntu was brown and it looked beautiful. Later, I dual booted Ubuntu and Windows XP on my main computer from about 2008 until about 2014ish - I remember being annoyed that I had to install some launcher thing called “Steam for Linux” so I could play this newly released Linux game called “Crisader King’s II” (I was sure I’d never use this “Steam” thing for anything else). 2 laptops and one desktop bought since 2014 have been Linux exclusive. The old desktop still chugs along on Ubuntu, having been upgraded through versions for over a decade, and somehow still works. The old laptop and newer laptop (my main machine) have only ever run Mint. Turns out that “Steam” thing was quite useful.

So very right. Forcing myself to “do fewer things” and go to bed earlier, and give myself the chance of getting enough sleep makes such a difference. Of course, it helps that I’m old and boring now, so going to bed early isn’t missing out on anything fun :) It’s very noticeable how all my misfunctioning is much worse of in underslept or underfed.

I didn't even realise "no SD card" was an option. That's shitty and awful.

I'd add "less than 15cm tall" too. I've had enough of stupid giant phones that don't fit in pockets and where you can't even reach the top or other side with your thumb.

I’m quite interested in gamification options - as you say, you do need to change your “tricks” every now and again, as they can stop working. Many years ago, I used to use a thing called “Habitica” (wiki link) which was sort of like playing your task list as an RPG, which I think worked well for me for a little while. Looks like it’s still up and running though, so might be worth a look :)

I think you can self-motivate on this one - when approaching a new situation, stop to think “Could I draw a cock on this?” (and then “should I draw a cock on this?”). Don’t be afraid to consider other options, for example a pair of boobs, or a simple swear word. The important thing is “Can I quickly erase it afterwards, and thus complete my original task?”.

Yeah, sorry about that, but I had to write a really long list for internet people, to procrastinate from the thing I was actually meant to be doing. p.s. happy ending to the story - I have now done the thing I was actually meant to be doing :)

It depends on where you live, but generally you leave stuff out the front if you want to get rid of it (fridges, freezers, ovens, mattresses, sofas etc) - either officially, by arranging a "bulky goods" collection from the council, or waiting for someone who wants/needs it to take it. Large appliances generally get picked up by "rag and bone" men who weigh the metal in for scrap. Remember that a large chunk of urban population don't drive at all, and the majority that do drive small vehicles for short journeys - so not many people can take stuff like that to a recycling centre themselves.

I think you're overestimating the amount of nice, sunny days available in British weather :)

You only need to change a few ingredients for it to be nice. Make it bread dough, and replace the M&Ms with small cubes of cheese. Then replace the “Greek salad” bit with melted cheese.
