🔎 A recent study modelled medicinal flora ranges in the Himalaya using GBIF-mediated data. The results predicted that climate change is likely to significantly impact flora in the region, specifically causing range contractions and upward elevation shifts across most studied species. 🏔️

🧊 #BCubed online training happening tomorrow: Occurrence cubes and biological invasions

Delve into details of the Invasibility Cube which integrates trait, environmental and community species data to quantify invasion fitness, and generate spatial indicators of site invasibility and species and/or trait invasiveness. The b3alien #Python package will also be covered, which provides a technical solution to track Target 6 of the #KMGBF.

⭐ The training series features six live sessions, held on consecutive Fridays at 15:00 CET. Each session will last 1.5 hours, combining a presentation, Q&A and a hands-on segment where participants can try out tools and workflows.

🦑 Rough seas ahead for commercial squid species

Greenhouse gases are expected to alter ocean properties, but a recent study hypothesized that squids may benefit from climate change through expanded ranges and abundances. 🔎

Researchers modeled distributions for 12 squid species using GBIF, OBIS and climate data, but results showed regional variation across species.
